Local Swimming Pool faces Crossroads.
As the warm weeks of summer carry on, so do deliberations on what Vincennes may do with regard to a municipal swimming pool.
What to do with, or about, Rainbow Beach is a subject of concern for those who want to keep and maintain a pool, and others who are concerned about costs to update and improve the current 40-year old facility built in 1971.
Steve Beaman is the Vincennes Parks Superintendent who has led discussion on “what to do” about the pool. While the current pool is open for business, Beaman is trying to look ahead to the changing desires and needs of pool visitors.
“Rainbow Beach has just about outlived its usefulness,” he said. ” I was five years old when this opened. In the very near future we will be faced with some expensive repairs and before we do that we need to take a look at what the possibilities are for really improving the facility.”
