In March a group of Knox County missionaries went to Florida to help another local woman build a retreat for returning U.S. soldiers and their families.
The adults and teens from the Three Nails Project, a local disaster-relief (and more) team, helped former resident Kelly Kowall build additional space for “My Warrior’s Place,” a retreat for grieving veterans, active-duty soldiers, and their families. Kowall’s son, Corey, lost his life while serving in Afghanistan in 2009.
“Their help was tremendous,” Kowall said. “They helped byid on a 16–by-46-foot room, plus the roof. To get that done was just wonderful.”
