Ever since the first two Knox County high school basketball teams faced each other on the hardwood, a spirit of rivalry and county bragging rights have been an important part of each encounter.
This was especially true when those contests were played under the previous single-class system. This rich tradition and nostalgia of days gone by have been revived and will be experienced again this year during the fourth annual Knox County Alumni Basketball Sectional Tourney, scheduled to take place in Adams Coliseum on Saturday, April 6, hosted by South Knox High School.
This year’s special event is patterned after last year’s activity with a similar schedule and rules. THe main requirement to be a member of the Lincoln, North Knox, Rivet or South Knox men’s squad is that each player must have graduated from one of these four Knox County schools in 2003 or before.
Any of the ladies on teh Alices, Warriors, Spartans or Patriots rosters must have graduated in 2008 or earlier.
